Tour the battlefield, visit the Eisenhower Farm, take a guided tour of the U.S. Botanic Garden and the National Arboretum, visit local gardens and shops. All that, and the conference! Come early and stay late.

Friday, July 18
Pre-Conference Tour to Washington, DC

Our field trip on Friday, July 18 at 7:30 A.M. is a luxurious way (relax in a motor coach) for those of you who are coming from afar to see the herbal and garden sites in our nation's capital. We will have guided tours by herbal experts at the US National Arboretum and then at the US Botanic Gardens. Bring your camera and wear your walking shoes and sun hat! We will also have a street tour of native plants growing around the new Native American Museum, where you can have lunch on your own. The cafeteria has authentic Native American foods indigenous to many regions of North America; you can choose from buffalo burgers to Hopi stew, posole, roasted chiles, beans, squash, flatbreads, cornbread, a plethora of salsas, to rosemary pinon tarts. $65 fee covers bus costs, snacks on the bus, tram tour at the arboretum as well as a contribution to the intern fund. Bus returns at 7 P.M.
